Allergy

Chances are you know someone who suffers with allergies. Often, we think of allergies as being a condition where one is negatively impacted by airborne pollutants, such as animal dander or pollen. But the fact is that there is a vast range of allergies out there, and a number of people who suffer from each type of allergy. Here are some examples of the more common types of allergies, as well as examples of allergy symptoms.

Foremost among the types of allergies are those that have to do with food. A wheat allergy sometimes works hand in hand with a gluten allergy to make it impossible for persons to enjoy bread with a meal. A peanut allergy can prevent a person from enjoying a wide number of products that people use every day, from peanut butter to different types of candy bars, all the way through to not being able to use peanut oil for cooking. Peanut allergies also seem to be harder to detect. As a result there are a number of people who may not even realize they have this type of allergy. Another common food allergy is related to dairy Food Recipes products. A milk allergy may be identified by all sorts of symptoms, from severe cramps to headaches. One of the worst issues with a food allergy is that it can develop over time. Thus, you may be fine with diary products in your twenties, but develop severe allergic reactions by the time you get into your forties.

Allergic reactions to pets go beyond just pet dander. Dog allergies may include skin outbreaks as a result of dog saliva touching the skin. The same is true with cats. Cat allergies can be triggered by anything from pet dander to saliva to the ammonia content of the cat urine. Pet hair itself may cause different types of allergic reactions. In cases where dog hair is a factor, shorthaired dogs for people with allergies is a good idea, if the person is determined to have a pet in the home. The same is true with cats, and a shorthaired cat may work well in the home, if the allergy sufferer is a dedicated cat lover.

Interestingly enough, there is of late more acknowledgment that there are dogs with allergies as well. These may manifest themselves as food allergies, an allergic reaction to certain types of flea medication, or even reactions to the pet shampoo you use. Since your pet cannot verbalize a complaint, it is a good idea to have your dog checked for allergies every few years.

A latex allergy may not seem like a big deal, until you begin to think of all the household and personal products that are made with latex. From cleaning gloves to condoms, a lot of people use latex products every day, at home and at work. An allergy can lead to not only health issues but also the need to find other means of employment, if not brought under control. If you suspect that you may have developed an allergy, see your doctor today.
